HandymanNear.ca ("we", "us", "our") is operated by Professional Sources Inc. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your choices. By using our website or booking a service, you agree to this policy.
Booking information: your name, email address, phone number and service address, together with the details of the job you book — the service, the options you choose, your preferred date, your notes, and the price.
Account information: if you create an account, your email address and a securely hashed password. We never store your password in a readable form and cannot see it.
Payment information: payments are processed by Stripe. Card details are entered on Stripe’s own secure checkout and are never collected, seen or stored by us. We keep a record of the amount, the date and whether the payment succeeded.
Messages: emails you send us, and WhatsApp messages if you choose to opt in to WhatsApp updates.
Technical information: your IP address and browser details when you submit a booking, which we keep as a record of the booking and to prevent abuse.
Job applications: if you apply to work with us we collect the details on your application — name, contact details, service area, experience, and any licence or insurance information — and any documents you send. This is used only to review and manage your application.
To quote, schedule and carry out the work you book; to contact you about your booking; to take payment and issue receipts and invoices; to keep records required for tax and insurance; and to keep our service secure. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Only the people and services needed to do the job:
Our tradespeople, who receive the job details and your address so they can attend.
Stripe, which processes card payments.
Meta (WhatsApp), only if you have opted in to WhatsApp updates.
Our hosting and email providers, which operate the website, database and mail on our behalf.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
Our website and database are hosted on servers located in the United States, and our payment processor Stripe operates internationally. Information held outside Canada may be accessible to the courts and authorities of the country it is held in. If you would prefer not to have your information stored outside Canada, contact us before booking and we will take your booking by phone instead.
We keep booking and payment records for as long as we are required to for tax and insurance purposes, usually seven years. Unsuccessful job applications are kept for up to one year. You may ask us to delete anything we are not required to keep.
You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email info@handymannear.ca and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response you may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.
Traffic to and from this site is encrypted, passwords are hashed, and card details never touch our systems. No system is perfectly secure, but we take the protection of your information seriously.
Our services are intended for people aged 18 and over and are not directed to children.
